The other pay per click affiliate system works by you placing an advertisement from a vendor on your website and every time a viewer clicks on an ad you make a bit of cash. These type of programs usually pay small amounts for clicks but if you have a lot of traffic it can quickly add up.

Of course the main problem with both of these is that if you don’t have any visitors you won’t get any clicks.  The only way around this is to put good content on your website that users will get some value from.

Ad placement is a science in itself. Some believe that you need to make the ad stand out to catch the readers eye. I personally think that this is a method that has dwindling results and is old fashioned. It may have worked once upon a time but I think that consumers are becoming blind to flashy banners and large ads that shout click me. Todays Internet user is hungry for information. If they see something which may help them get that information then they will click through.

The trick is to blend the ads in with the rest of the page as much as possible. I mistakenly thought with the amount of time that I spend with this stuff  I could spot an ad a mile away. I was wrong. I was looking for a template for one of my sites the other day and found myself clicking on a Google adsense ad. Why did I click on it?  Because it looked like it may have led me to what I was looking for. I applaud the web designer for that site. At first glance it looked like I was clicking on just another menu item but I was actually helping to line the pockets of the site owners. I don’t have a problem with that and have filed that little trick away for future use. By the way, that little ad did help me in my search for a template.

Of course the grandaddy of ppc systems is Google adsense and it is NOT an affiliate program or partnership in any way. If you see any type of advertising that states you can become a  partner, employee, or affiliate of some sort with Google and their adwords system then run for the hills as it’s a scam and very misleading. You simply sign up to Google adsense for free (you need a website of course) ,create a valuable, content rich website and get visitors to come and view it. In this new age of the savvy Internet user the best way to success is to simply give the consumer what they want or help them get what they want. The more people you help you the easier it will be for you to make a bit of money online at home.

There are more pay per click affiliate programs than you can shake a stick at these days. Just use a search engine to find one which one is right for you. Some of them can be quite hard to get approved for which is understandable as they need reliable, trusted affiliates who aren’t going to resort to spamming or other nefarious tricks to get a quick buck.
