Bugger The iPad – I Got Myself A Notepad
I wrote a post about using an iPod for doing your Internet Marketing stuff on. You’ll have to forgive me… I was excited about my new toy.
In reality it’s crap. The screens too small if you’re using the onboard touch keyboard and the effect is ruined if you have to lug around a Bluetooth keyboard of any decent usable size. Emergency blogging only I’m afraid if there ever is such a thing.
So I did a bit of analyzing on what I would need to make Internet Marketing truly mobile. I needed to be able to run my favorite programs such as The Best Spinner, Instant Article Wizard, Photoshop and of course Dreamweaver. Being able to access my WordPress sites as they are meant to be accessed is also a high priority.
I toyed with the idea of an Android Tablet. iPad’s are good but I wanted something really different ‘cos I already had an iPod. The same problem with the keyboard and software came up. So what was I left with?
Notebooks? Too big and power hungry. iPad? As above. Then I came across a special on an MSI Wind U135DX. I’ve not really considered Netbooks before because of their lack of CPU grunt but after looking at a few ‘Tube videos and reading some reviews I toddled off and parted with enough moolah to get me a shiny new netbook.
This thing rocks. It runs everything, and I mean everything that I need. It weighs bugger all, has a nice keyboard, good enough size screen and even plays a few games. Warcraft 3 anyone?
Dreamweaver CS5 runs like a dream. Screen size is a bit limited for this application but I’ll get used to it. I like to use the code editor mostly anyway so it’s all good. Even Photoshop gives a good showing. I don’t do anything too complicated with these applications so they run perfectly fine.
All in all I’m happy and I’ll never look at iPad user with envy again. They can have their lack of storage space, windows applications and built in keyboard, plus no USB or SD card support makes the Netbook poo all over it. $300 cheaper also doesn’t hurt. More than enough savings to buy a bigger battery (about 50 bucks I think). Try doing that with an iPad.
Mobile Blogging Creates True Internet Marketing Freedom
It has been said that Internet Marketing gives you true freedom to work from anywhere providing you have access to the Internet. This is a true statement.
I recently acquired my very first Apple product in the form of an Apple iPod and I’ve gotta say I’m fairly impressed. I’m a bit of a gamer so it’s been getting a pretty good workout in that regards but now it’s time to get back to work.
If Internet Marketing can give you the freedom to live anywhere then mobile blogging takes that paradigm to a whole new level.
By using iPod blogging software and a mobile phone I can literally work from anywhere, anytime or whenever I have a spare moment. The iPod takes care of the blogging side of things and the mobile phone (a humble Nokia e63) takes care of the Internet side of things when no free WiFi spots are available.
I’m writing this post on WordPress for iPod and using a nifty little program called JoikuSpot on the Nokia. JoikuSpot essentially turns your phone into a mini WiFi router and is very easy to setup. With the new camera in the iPod I even have the ability to add photos on the fly which is pretty cool.
There is an app for everything on the iPod. It even has an app for article spinning. So for an Internet marketer who has a bit of time while sitting on the bus this is a dream come true. It’s not as fully featured as The Best Spinner but it gets the job done. Best of all every piece of software I’ve mentioned above is completely free so get blogging.
